Remember remember the fifth of November? I’ll remember this November in particular as it’s my first month as editor here at Time & Leisure. So now, I would like to introduce myself. I originally hail from Dublin, Ireland but I’ve been willingly immersed in the leafy green streets of south west London for the past seven years. I got married eight weeks ago to an English/Greek in a place called County Cavan in Ireland, so these leafy green meandering streets have served me well, but rest assured I have wedding fever firmly out of my system… for now! My aim in this new role is to try my very best to bring you a vibrant array of things happening and insights into our local area. Talking about a vibrant array of things, we had the honour of spending some time with the inspiring and remarkable Oliver Tress, founder and managing director of Oliver Bonas who opened his first shop in Fulham! Oliver gave us a flavour of what life is really like running 57 highly-successful shops around the country and explains how he gets into our minds to know what we really want!
Sometimes we all just need to revert back to childhood and now that I am all grown up, I do relish nothing more than to delve right back into mine. You
too can find your inner child by visiting a quirky centenary display of Eleanor Farjeon’s, Nursery Rhymes of London Town in Fulham later this month as well as original artwork by the talented illustrator MacDonald Gill. You can then travel over to Clapham and boldly go where no other photographer has gone before by viewing Of Things Not Seen. Local photographer Jim Grover set himself a fascinating challenge of spending more than 12 months capturing the real life of a working priest who he initially met through their respective cats. Let’s not forget Christmas is fast approaching, so if you’re looking for a drink to impress your house guests this year, make sure to check out what tipple Clapham gin distiller Charles Maxwell recommends.
I’m really very excited to meet some incredible people, learn some mesmerising things, go on lots of adventures and share and report it all back to you… but for now, sit back, relax and enjoy a little November slice of the exuberant south west… I am officially reporting for duty!
Until next time…
Jenny Conlon, Editor
